The Western Aquarius

Prometheus Chained

Prometheus Chained

Many of the stars and asterisms for the Liver Xiu reside in the Western constellation of Aquarius. This constellation is often seen as the water-bearer, but as explained under the Xiu section, the Aquarius symbol actually represents “energy,” more than it does water, for when turned on it’s side, the lightning bolt representation is easy to see.
The themes of Prometheus can be seen to go with the Aquarius constellation then, in that Prometheus was the bringer of fire. Prometheus was punished by the gods for revealing fire to human beings. He was then chained to a rock where an eagle or vulture would peck out his liver each day, and during the night it would regenerate.
Both Aquarius and Prometheus can be thought of as the present day prophet, reformer and social thinker. With a healthy Liver comes the ability to regenerate, and not only accept change, but be a force for change.
