Hexagram 34: 大壯 Dàzhuàng

Hexagram 34, 大壯 is called “The Great Invigorating.” It’s inner trigram is “heaven” and it’s outer trigram is “thunder.” It is as if Heaven below is trying to ascend upwards. With the lung, there was an equal exchange between Heaven above and Earth below. Here, Heaven meets with thunder. Through thunder energy is brought into the world. This bring to mind the ideas about the large intestine’s ability to transmit the Dao.
The Dao comes into the world through the empty spaces that are here. The large intestine is a creator of empty spaces and it empties by shaking.
