The Eastern Palace (東宮) and Azure Dragon

Summer Palace

Summer Palace

Both of the Xiu for the Kidney reside in The Eastern Palace which is associated with spring and wood. The Azure Dragon is in control of all waterways and rainfall.
A Dragon of the East would have the head of a camel, eyes of a rabbit and horn’s of a deer. (Deer horn is used in Chinese medicine for deficiency of Kidney Yin and Yang). The list of animal portions of the Dragon’s body goes on and on. In most pictures, the Dragon is reaching out for a pearl (the Moon) in front of him.
The Kidney is considered to be the Yin portion of the Water energetic phase in the body. It is appropriately paired with the Azure Dragon because of this. The association between the Dragon and the Moon is also indicative of it’s relationship with the Kidney and the Jing.
