Just Talking and Talking. Sometimes About Chinese Medicine.

Hexagram 20: 觀 Guan

The inner trigram is Earth and the outer trigram represents Wind. This Hexagram is linked with the eighth month and is the time when the light-giving power retreats and the dark power is on the rise. The Hexagram can be seen to visualize a type of tower that is characteristic of Ancient China. This type of tower functioned as both a place where one could obtain a view of the countryside, as well as a landmark.
The Hexagram is called, “Contemplation,” and as the tower illustrates, it is the ability to remove oneself in order to contemplate the surroundings. Water is about reflection and the ability to look at a picture, and here is the relationship between the Hexagram and the Kidney.
